CANNON BEACH - Internationally known folk singer/songwriter Tom May appears with his trio at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the Coaster Theatre, 108 N. Hemlock St.

May's career has spanned more than 33 years, with highlights including opening concerts for Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Alabama and Willie Nelson, solo performances in all 50 states and many other countries, and producing the nationally syndicated radio broadcast, "River City Folk," on the WFMT Radio Network for the past 20 years. He is also writing a book about the craft of becoming a successful singer/songwriter for a British publisher.

He currently calls Vancouver, Wash., home and is very active in the Northwest acoustic music scene. May founded and produces Portland's largest annual folk event, "Winterfolk," now in its 18th year. His music is featured at many festivals across the Northwest and beyond, including the Sisters Folk Festival, the Timberline Arts Festival, the Willamette Folk Festival and the Juan de Fuca Festival in Port Angeles. May has released 10 albums over the years, the most recent being the critically acclaimed "Vested," recorded in Oregon in 2002.

Performing with May Friday will be bass player and harmony singer Donny Wright, who recently accompanied Tracy Grammer on a national concert tour where they opened for Joan Baez, and Fuzzy Purcell, a multi-instrumentalist on lead guitar and mandolin.
