The Vernonia River Run Festival will kick off May 1 with a full day of events throughout Anderson and Hawkins parks, Vernonia Lake and the Nehalem River. There will something there that every family member can enjoy.

The festival will include a day of free fishing, kids' games, a silent auction, a home brew contest, a chili cook-off, duck races, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, door prize, raffles prizes, May pole dancing and live bands, in addition to the debut of Vernonia's Country Market, a beer garden and a handmade crafts and hobby fair.
