The new officers inducted into the Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Stevens Post 10580 in Warrenton are: Melvin Jasmin, commander; James Fluhrer, senior vice commander; William Logsdon, junior vice commander; Leroy Dunn, quartermaster; Tiffany Adams, chaplain; Stephen Rasmussen, judge advocate and one-year trustee; Mike Newton, surgeon; Tom Anderson, two-year trustee; Elmer Miller, three-year trustee; and Troy Jasmin, webmaster.

The post’s programs and projects including the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen in surrounding schools; providing certificates and a gift to those U.S. Coast Guard personnel who have received the Enlisted Person of the Quarter award; sponsoring the Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) program at Warrenton Grade School; assisting needy veterans who qualify though the local veterans’ services officer; and providing funds and physical help to the Oregon Department of Human Services.

There is also an auxiliary unit that supports its own and all post activities. Post 10580 is seeking new members who have served honorably overseas and received a campaign badge or ribbon that makes them eligible to join.
