A “Get a Grasp on Medicare” class will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Conference Room A at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, near the west side entrance.

There is no cost for the class, which is sponsored by NW Senior and Disability Services and CMH.

This class is designed for those new to Medicare, and will cover the basic structure of Medicare benefit coverage and options for additional coverage.

It will also provide information on how to help avoid Medicare fraud. Participants will be given the 2012 Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Program (SHIBA) Guide Book, along with information on how to get ongoing Medicare assistance through SHIBA Volunteer Counselors.

To register, call the CMH Education Department at (503) 338-7564 or email cham@columbiamemorial.org or log on to the website at www.columbiamemorial.org
