The Astoria Aquatic Center, 1997 Marine Drive, offers a Free Community Open Swim Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. All facilities, including the weight room, will be open to all residents of Clatsop and Pacific counties. The hours of free use are sponsored by Dick Delphia of Delphia Oil.

The supporters of the free afternoons are investing in the aquatic center's future, according to Astoria Parks and Community Services Director Kevin Beck. They know some of the people who try the pool, the water slide, the lazy river, the hot tub, the children's pool or the weight room will return as regular users of the center, Beck said.

The Astoria Aquatic Center is now offering annual passes, which give users 90 days free when they sign up. Cost is $198 for adults, $171 for seniors, $165 for youth and $297 for families. The facility also has a party room for birthday celebrations or group meetings. For more information, visit the aquatic center's Web site at (www.swimastoria.com)

The next free community swim will be Dec. 7.
