Gimre’s Shoes and Yaleet Inc., distributors of Naot footwear, have teamed up to donate 74 pairs of shoes to the Clatsop County Women’s Resource Center’s (WRC) Hutchens House safe home, and to its retail arm Déjà Vu.

On May 15, Pete Gimre sized and fit shoes to the women living in Hutchens House. The balance of the pairs of shoes will then be donated to Déjà Vu, and the proceeds from the footwear sales will benefit Hutchens House.

“There was much appreciation and thanks to Pete and Gimre’s Shoes for the wonderful donation from all of the residents of Hutchens House,” said Pat Burness, WRC executive eirector.

Hutchens House safe home has been providing temporary housing for victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault since August 2011. It also provides meals, counseling, advocate assistance, support groups and helps residents find jobs and permanent, affordable housing. More than 30 women, along with 16 children, have been assisted by the shelter.
