CANNON BEACH - A group show by instructors from the Portland State University Haystack Summer Program in the Arts will open July 2 at the Cannon Beach Gallery, 1064 S. Hemlock St.

Each summer, PSU sponsors its Haystack Summer Program in the Arts in Cannon Beach, offering classes and workshops in the visual and literary arts, music and gardening. The Cannon Beach Gallery, a nonprofit program of the Cannon Beach Arts Association, hosts the exhibit of the visual arts faculty from the 2004 program through Aug. 2.

Included in the 10-person exhibit is Native American basketry by Pat Courtney Gold, color photographs by garden photographer Alan Mandell, encaustic paintings by Susan Harlan and watercolors by Pat San Soucie. Barbara Mason, Sher Davidson, Jani Hoberg, Sharri LaPierre and Nicole Rawlins will exhibit prints in various styles, and Charlien Fitzpatrick presents works in paint and pastel.

An artists' reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 3. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Monday.
