OCEAN PARK, Wash. - The third annual Heritage Festival in the Park is Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 at Sheldon Park in Ocean Park, Wash.

The theme of this year's festival is "150 years since James Swan came to Willapa." Swan was known for his writing on the region, the Chinook Indians and early settlers. His book "The Northwest Coast; or Three Years' Residence in Washington Territory," shows both insight and humor bringing life to the region's history.

The Long Beach Peninsula hosts this event featuring story tellers, craft demonstrations, children's games, museum displays and musical entertainment.

Performers include the Black Dog Clan, the Undecided Tappers, Brownsmead Flats, Mud Bay Stompers, Tres Bon Du Temps Jazz Band and Cara Lee Carara and Greg Parke.

The festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call (888) 751-9354 or check out www.opwa.com
