Looking for something uniquely Astorian for your visiting family and friends over the long Thanksgiving weekend? The Lower Columbia Preservation Society holds a historic church tour from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27. Take a rare "behind the scenes" look at five area churches where you'll learn fascinating historical facts and admire beautiful architectural features.

The tour will include a wide range of styles. Churches include a simple Vernacular and a large Gothic Revival, both from 1885. Also included are two Gothics from the early 1900s and a Tudor from the 1920s. The tour and orientation begins at Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 Franklin St.

The tour is free for LCPS members and $5 for nonmembers. For an additional $5, the fee may be applied to a one-year membership in the organization. For more information, call (503) 338-5686 after 5 p.m. For information on this or other LCPS events, visit the Web site www.lcpsweb.org
