OK, you can put away your worry beads. The COLUMBIAN THEATER, pictured in a 1925 photo, is not going dark. A fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.com, with theater owner JEANINE FAIRCHILD and her staff leading the charge, raised more than the $30,000 goal needed to buy a digital projector.

In fact, they raised $32,734. The extra money is slated for “sound system upgrades, building improvements or additional film projects for our awesomely talented staff,” the theater’s website, www.columbianvoodoo.com, says. “We can’t express our gratitude enough. Thank you all!”
