According to BeachConnection.net, it appears that the gray whales aren’t feeling like waiting for Whale Watch Week, which starts March 23, and are already trundling en masse up the Oregon Coast (tinyurl.com/BCwhales). They’ve already been spotted near Seaside, Astoria, Cannon Beach and Manzanita. Pictured, a mother and her calf, courtesy of the Seaside Aquarium.

If you really want to stay on top of things, there’s a Facebook group you can follow, Clatsop & Pacific County Whale Sightings (tinyurl.com/wherewhales). So, whale fans, break out the binoculars and head for the beach.
