Ear: Gerry

Here's an interesting tidbit of Oregon history: Gerry Frank, revered businessman and philanthropist who died earlier this year at age 98, actually met Queen Elizabeth II — and not just once, either, according to the Oregon Historical Society.

The first time he met her was in 1947, when he was attending University of Cambridge in England. Both Gerry and Princess Elizabeth (at the time) attended a party at the home of the U.S. ambassador to Great Britain. According to Gerry, she was not the belle of the ball, however. Elizabeth Taylor was.
