CANNON BEACH -Internationally acclaimed artist James C. Christensen will visit Ernst & Ernst Collectors Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13.

The artist, known for his art, often representing myths, fables and tales of imagination, will collaborate with his daughter Cassandra Christensen Barney who will debut a series of original paintings and limited edition prints that celebrate the "feminine divine." Dan Barney joins the collaboration with handmade jewelry designs.

Christensen Barney's portraits of women are mixed with images of fruit, birds, flowers and chairs. "The flowers and vines symbolize the unruly beauty I find in my role as a mother. Birds in nest, sitting quietly, communicate the contentment that I feel in my home. Fruit has many meanings. It can be a symbol of life cycles as it seeds, ripens, spoils and re-seeds. Fruit can represent the outcome," Christensen Barney noted in a press release.
