ROCKAWAY BEACH - The first festival of the season for the Rockaway Beach Chamber of Commerce takes place Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, as the annual Kite Festival brings family fun to the beach for spring.

Activities include music, food and craft booths and kite making from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Oregon Kiters Association, headed by Debbie Cooley, Doc Conce and Peg Burley, will have materials on hand for youngsters to make their own kites. They will also be judging the flying competitions. A teddy bear drop on the beach is also scheduled.
