Long Beach (Wash.) Peninsula resident CHELE SELLMAN, the mastermind behind JOURNI ROE PHOTOGRAPHY (www.facebook.com/journiroe), photographed the marvelously moody shot of NORTH HEAD LIGHTHOUSE, pictured.

The eye-catching image caught the attention of the American Lighthouse Foundation in Rockland, Maine, who asked her if they could auction it off during their annual fundraising gala in Massachusetts last weekend. She has also donated a copy of the photo to the National Lighthouse Museum’s fundraiser, the Light Keepers Gala June 14 in Staten Island, N.Y.

“I’m so excited to see North Head being shown and shared all over!” she exclaimed. “It only seemed natural I give back, when I am overflowing with thanks.”

She has also offered a collage for North Head Lighthouse’s own fundraiser, its 114th birthday celebration May 19, and the photo pictured will hang in the Keeper’s house.

North Head “still stands as a beacon of strength and protection,” she declared. “When I visit the lighthouse, I see all those things as well as her charm and appeal, and most of all her graceful beauty ... I am amazed each time I visit, for I see her in a new, artistic light each time.”
