Petty Officer 2nd Class Nathan Horning, U.S. Navy hospital corpsman, having successfully completed a tour of duty at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash., has permanently transferred to Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he will serve as a field medical service technician with the U.S. Marine Corps.

While stationed in Oak Harbor, Wash., Horning deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. On returning, he was promoted to petty officer second class.

Horning is the son of David and Janice Horning of Olney. He attended Olney and Astoria schools and graduated from Astoria High School in 2005.
