CANNON BEACH - Mo's restaurants are paying tribute to firefighters with the third annual "Fish and Chips for Firemen," taking place from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The event will help raise money for volunteer firefighters on the Oregon Coast. Mo's restaurants at Cannon Beach, Newport, Lincoln City and Florence will participate, donating a portion of the proceeds from fish and chips sales to coastal volunteer fire departments and to help build a new training tower in Newport.

"Fish and Chips for Firemen" began following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

"The men and women of the volunteer fire departments do so many great things for our community, and so for that reason we need to support them and show them that their service is extremely important for a strong and safe community," said Gabrielle McEntee, marketing director for Mo's. "It's also a way to remember all the firefighters who lost their lives in the tragedy of Sept. 11."
