Ten poets will read at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 as a prologue to the Astoria Arts Celebration Nov. 15 through 17.

The poems are from a CD recording of poems, "Read At The River." The CD was produced as a fund-raiser for the River Theater. The readers are all local poets who did featured readings from January 2000 to June 2002 at Monday Mike for the spoken word, a monthly River Theater event, now completing its third year. Producers are the two Monday Mike co-hosts, Astorians Jim Dott and Florence Sage.

Poets will include David Blanchard, Robert Brown, Jim Dott, Claudia Harper, Nancy Hoffman, Anne Splane Phillips, Florence Sage, Karin Temple and Donna Wright, all of Astoria; and Christy Phillips-Matlock of Svensen. Also reading on the CD are: Russ Hunter and Pat Staton-Thomas of Astoria, Sandra Foushee of Gearhart and Robert Pyle of Gray's River, Wash.

An exhibit of photography by Claudia Harper and art by Jim Dott will be hung in the Performing Arts Center lobby. The CD "Read at the River" will be for sale with an autograph session after the readings.

Admission is $5 and is free for Arts & Ideas season ticket holders.

The box office at the CCC Performing Arts Center opens one hour prior to the performance.
