Lutheran Community Services Northwest highlighted

Roberta Nestaas, chief executive officer of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, will bring greetings to the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at First Lutheran Church, 725 33rd St. She will also speak about the work of Lutheran Community Services to the adult class at about 9:50 a.m.

Lutheran Community Services partners with First Lutheran Church in the work of Hope House Counseling Center, located on the campus of First Lutheran Church. Hope House celebrated its 20th anniversary with a fundraising banquet Saturday evening at the Liberty Theater.

Budda’s birth to be noted

CLATSKANIE — The Great Vow Zen Monastery, located at 79640 Quincy-Mayger Road in Clatskanie, will hold a Buddha’s Birthday Celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, led by Jan Chozen Bays, Roshi and Great Vow Sangha. There is no cost for this event.         

There will be a ceremony in the Zendo during the chanting service, a birthday cake with the vegan or vegetarian lunch, and other activities for families. All are welcome.

Quakers plan silent session

SEAVIEW, Wash. — The Lower Columbia Worship Group of the Society of Friends (Quaker) will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Peninsula Church Center Fireside Room (south building), 5000 N Place, in Seaview.

Labyrinth Walk planned

Grace Episcopal Church will hold a Labyrinth Walk from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Parish Hall, 1545 Franklin Ave. Participants may start their walk at any time during those hours; the average walk takes between 20 and 30 minutes.
