There have been a few changes around the River Theater.
The River is creating an in-house box office for ticket sales. Now you can stop by the River and pick up a schedule, a few tickets for the upcoming play or musician. As of Nov. 27, the doors have opened for advance ticket sales 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays (except Thanksgiving), and Fridays from one week before plays and the week of musical events. Tickets will also be sold one hour before all showtimes.
The actual office space is presently still under construction but soon you will be able to walk up to the doors and turn to your right and purchase tickets through a regular theater ticket selling window. In the past, Lucy's Books, 348 12th St. in Astoria, has been the main outlet for picking up River Theater tickets in advance.
The first tickets to be sold from the River will be the theater's holiday play "Miracle on 34th St.," by Valentine Davies and directed by Mary Davies. The play runs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 8 and Wednesday, Dec. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 15. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. For more information, call the River Theater (503) 325-7487, or drop in at 230 W. Marine Drive, under the bridge in Astoria's Uniontown
