SKAMOKAWA, Wash. - The Friends of Skamokawa hold their annual Wine Tasting and Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds, 1 Skamokawa Valley Road off State Route 4.

Themed "A Mediterranean Mood," the event will feature fine wines from various Mediterranean countries as well as some of the Pacific Northwest's best wines. Nonalcoholic beverages and hors d'oeuvres will also be served, as well as cookies and coffee.

An array of auction items will be put up for bid in a fun, fast-paced program with auctioneer Mark Kuhl. For those who prefer a quieter, slower pace, a silent auction of approximately 30 items is also available.

Admission to the Wine Tasting and Auction is $13.

The Friends of Skamokawa Foundation is a nonprofit organization that uses the proceeds from this event to continue maintaining and operating Redmen Hall, a restored 1894 schoolhouse and now home of the River Life Interpretive Center, bookstore and gift shop.
