SEASIDE — Exalted Ruler Joe Barchus and Oregon State Elks Publicity Chairman Jan Jackson of the Seaside Elks Lodge attended the Oregon State Elks Convention in Ashland from April 24 to 28.

Seaside Elks Lodge was the second-place winner in the state lodge bulletin contest and was also honored for its promotional efforts. Jackson was presented her second Golden Mike award and received a certificate of merit for her efforts to share the story of Elkdom. She led a training class and spoke at the general session.

More than 700 Elks were in attendance as Kay Englund-Coomler was installed as Oregon State Elks president. She is the first woman to hold that office.
