Seven nights and eight days of relaxation and fun in gorgeous, warm, sunny Mexico can be had for only $20. That's all it costs to purchase a raffle ticket for a Mexico vacation package from the Astoria High School Marching Band. The band is selling just 500 tickets to raise money for their upcoming trip to perform at the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco in December.
The vacation package, provided by Sundial Travel, includes round-trip airfare from Portland and hotel accommodations in the winner's choice of three destinations - sportfishing capital Cabo San Lucas, exotic Puerto Vallarta or historic Mazatlan. It also covers a hotel stay in Portland and all applicable taxes. The trip is nontransferable and must be taken by November 15, 2005. Or, the winner can choose to take home a cash prize of $1,000.
The funds raised by the raffle will contribute to a great experience for Astoria's marching band students, who put in countless hours of practice time to perform at home football games and community events, while they're learning self-discipline, responsibility and teamwork.
To purchase a raffle ticket, come to tonight's Astoria High School home football game or call marching instructors Tom and Kathleen Strecker at 325-9109. Purchasers must be 18 or older.
