GEARHART - Summer starts early for the Trail's End Art Association, as their summer exhibitions start with an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at the Trail's End Art Center, 656 A St.

The gallery is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday during the summer, but artists are often active in the studio Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well. The public is always welcome to stop in.

"Cottage by the Sea," watercolor by Louise Birkenfeld.Summer exhibits feature the work of all members in a variety of media. The artwork will change each month, culminating with the annual open art exhibit at the end of August. Nonmembers may enter the open exhibit for a small fee or may join the association for $60 a year. Awards will be given in nine categories.
