What could be sweeter than spending a romantic evening with your beau, savoring indulgent gourmet desserts and listening to fine music by Astoria's best young performers?

In short - nothing. So take your sweetheart by the hand, bring your dancing shoes and take in the Astoria High School Music Department's annual Valentine's Cabaret. The romance begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the AHS commons. Admission is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

The evening will feature your choice of sumptuous desserts donated by local bakeries, plus coffee and other beverages, graciously brought to your table by AHS students.

Musical entertainment will be provided by students in the school's choir, band and orchestra programs. Highlights of the informal cabaret-style show include performances by the AHS Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra and Port City Singers. A faculty combo will also offer a few well-loved standards.

Proceeds from the cabaret benefit the choir, band and orchestra programs at Astoria High School. For information, call (503) 325-3911.
