The eighth annual Seaside Chowder Cook Off, presented by Boyds Coffee Company, tested the clam and seafood chowder prowess of chefs from Oregon and Washington. Profits from the event benefited the Women's Resource Center and Clatsop County Loaves and Fishes.

The winners and their awards were:

Best Professional Clam Chowder:

First ($800) - Sherry Wright, Sherry's Champion Chowder, Warrenton

Second ($400) - Randy Frank, Norma's Ocean Diner, Seaside

Third ($100) - Bob Bradley, Happy Clam Chowder Bar & Deli, Seaside

Best Professional Seafood Chowder:

First ($800) - Sherry Wright, Sherry's Champion Chowder, Warrenton

Second ($400) - Michael Downing, Quimby's Restaurant, Newport

Third ($100) - Dana Gunderson, Gunderson's Cannery Cafe, Astoria

Best Amateur Chowder:

First ($300) - Harry Smith, Haute Harry's Barbeque, Chowder & Chili, Vancouver, Wash.

People's Choice Award:

(Plaque) - Bill Pappas, J.P.'s at Cannon Beach, Cannon Beach

Best Decorated Booth:

(Plaque) - Sharon Major, Stephanie Inn, Cannon Beach

The judges came from all over Oregon and included Leif Beson, executive chef at Timberline Lodge, Jeff Martin, chef/owner of Astoria's Silver Salmon Grill, and Andy Carson from Channel 12's Good Day Oregon.
