SEASIDE - The Seaside Police Department has arrested and charged 54-year-old Theodore J. Zennie Jr. of Seaside with eight counts of aggravated theft in the first degree in connection with the 99 Dollar Beach House Essay Contest. Zennie remains in custody at the Clatsop County Jail for narcotics possession.

Seaside detectives have executed a number of search warrants related to the investigation, seizing financial records, ledgers and a computer connected to the fraudulent contest. Records indicate that there have been hundreds of entries from all around the U.S. and Canada.

The investigation is continuing, and detectives are requesting assistance from those who may have entered the contest. Anyone with information related to the contest, or who took part in the contest, may contact Detective Steve Barnett at or by calling the Seaside Tip Line at (503) 738-0222.
