GEARHART - The Assistance League's newly-formed Columbia Pacific Chapter is holding a meeting to recruit members from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Sandtrap Grill, 1157 N. Marion Ave. in Gearhart.

The Assistance League is a national volunteer organization established in 1919. Today there are over 24,000 members and 115 chapters in the United States. They are known for their signature project of establishing a clothes closet for school children in need called Operation School Bell. After meeting with educators in the community, the steering committee of the Columbia Pacific Chapter realized there is a need for an Operation School Bell in this region.
