The Astoria Branch of the American Association of University Women will present “The Essence of AAUW” at 7 p.m. for community members Sept. 17, at the Blue Scorcher Café, 1493 Duane St., Astoria. Members will outline the history of the group and its service projects. Following brief presentations, the audience will participate in a networking activity. Light refreshments will be provided.

A college degree is not required for membership in the branch.
