The Astoria School District Transportation Department has announced several changes that will go into effect Wednesday.

These changes will only affect p.m. routes for routes 3, 13, 14 and 15 (a new p.m. addition). These changes will be reflected on the revised route sheets located on the district website. Students impacted by the changes will be receiving several reminders as the effective date approaches.

The districtÂ’s transportation department will be contacting via phone and letter parents of students affected by these changes.

Parents may also view the changes to the transportation routes by going to Press the parents tab on the website to view the new transportation routes.

Route 3 will only transport Astor Elementary and Lewis and Clark Elementary students in the afternoon for the YoungÂ’s River Road area. Parents should see a minimum of 20 minutes less ride time for some students. See revised routes on the district website for drop-off times.

Route 4 will transfer Astor Elementary students that live in the Jeffers Garden, Hanover, Nehalem and Bayshore areas to Route 14 at Lewis and Clark Elementary. This will take care of an overflow issue on Route 13, and students will no longer be waiting at the bus garage. Jeffers Garden-area students will be dropped off 15 minutes earlier. See revised routes on the district website for drop-off times.

Route 13 p.m. will no longer drop off students at the Hanover, Nehalem and Bayshore stops.

Route 3 will no longer pick students up at Astoria Middle School. Those students will now be picked up by Route 15 at Astoria Middle School, and some students will transfer to Route 5 at the transportation department as before.

Route 15 will also get high school students for Youngs River Road and will meet Route 5 to transfer high school students at the transportation department as before.
