Mother's Day marks the kick-off for the 8th annual Astoria Sunday Market season.

Every Sunday beginning May 9 and running through Oct. 10, market-goers will find up to 200 vendors each week offering locally-made products that have been hand-crafted, grown, created or gathered by the farmers, craftspeople and artisans featured each week. In addition, the market has a lively food court, entertainment, and music by regional performers.

In the 2010 season, the market runs each Sunday on 12th Street in Astoria and the adjacent Legion Block.

According to its Web site, in 2007 Astoria Sunday Market was heralded as Oregon's second largest market of its kind in 2007 and its reputation for excellence earned it the 2004 Downtown Achievement Award from the Oregon Downtown Development Association. The market has grown to become a regular gathering place for locals, attraction for tourists, and incubator for small business development.

Astoria Sunday Market is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization founded in 2000. For more information about the market including scheduled music performances and special events, visit www.astoriasundaymarket.com.
