SEASIDE - The red uniforms worked better than the white uniforms for the Seaside Gulls Friday, in a doubleheader with Rainier at Broadway Field.

After a 9-5 win for the Columbians in Game 1, the Gulls bagged the white uniforms for red, and won the second game 9-2 for the split.

The two teams are right back where they were to start the day, tied for third place in the Cowapa League at 7-7.

Both teams finish the regular season Tuesday, with Rainier at Astoria and Seaside at Scappoose.

Rainier's Chad Andrews was the hero in Game 1, as he pitched a complete game on the mound (10 hits, seven strikeouts, three walks) and drove in four runs at the plate with two doubles and a single.

The second game belonged to Seaside's Alec Carlson, who also tossed a complete game and drove in three runs on a bases loaded double in the third inning.

The Gulls scored eight runs in the third, more than enough to beat the Columbians, who stranded a combined 18 runners on the day.
