The Big Dipper Ice Cream Parlor debuted in Long Beach this spring on Sid Snyder Drive right across from the go-cart park. Owners Glenn and Hillary Trusty opened the store this spring.

Manager Kathy Price said the parlor features about 40 flavors of hard ice cream on any given day, with a maximum inventory of about 65 flavors.

In addition to homemade waffle cones, they offer sundaes, banana splits, root beer floats and milk shakes. Other unfrozen fare includes hot dogs, soft drinks, water and juices.

Price said Big Dipper uses Tillamook, Alpenrose and Cascade Glacier brands of ice cream. They offer pints and quarts for sale, too.

She said the parlor is a cheerful venue with a 1950s theme.

"It's a happy place where families meet families," she said. Big Dipper also hosts kids' private birthday parties.

The Big Dipper Ice Cream Parlor is located at 100 Sid Snyder Drive E. in Long Beach. For more information call the store at (360) 642-2164.
