The Astoria Yacht Club has ceremonies for the opening boating season, beginning with Blessing of the Fleet and Boat Parade Saturday.

Boats will assemble at the West End Mooring Basin at 12:30 p.m. Boats will line up and begin the parade to the Columbia River Maritime Museum in single file and rendezvous for the Blessing of the Fleet at 1 p.m. in front of the museum. The Rev. John Wecker of First Lutheran Church will lead a prayer and a wreath will be placed in the water. The public is welcome to the ceremony at the museum.

All boats are welcome to participate and lay wreaths or flowers in memory of friends or family. Flowers must be natural or biodegradable - no plastic flowers.

Boaters are asked to monitor Channel 68.

For information on participating, call Toby Dyal at 325-0819.
