A forensic anthropologist in Portland is examining bones discovered in Clatsop County that are possibly human and very old, according to county Medical Examiner Dr. Joann Stefanelli.

The bones are encased in a mixture of materials that have to be separated for the substances to be analyzed, she said. Figuring out whether the bones are human could take one week or longer, up to several months if DNA testing is required.
