Butterflies Forever, an Oregon nonprofit, will be opening a nature and educational store at 1139 Commercial St. in Astoria. Grand opening is planned 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

The store will carry butterfly art, games, books, T-shirts and hats. It will eventually include a small live butterfly area, where visitors can view butterflies and caterpillars.

A contest is being held to find a name for the new store. The winning entry will receive a $50 gift certificate.

Entries can be dropped off at the store mail slot 1139 Commercial St., emailed to bforever@bforever.org or mailed to P.O. Box 604, Astoria. Entry deadline is noon March 15. To enter put the name suggestion on one side of a card and contact information, including name, phone and e-mail address on the other side of the card and deliver to the store.

The nonprofit store has embarked on a fund-raising and marketing effort to create a 15,000-square foot glass conservatory exhibit planned for the Port of Astoria.

Summer 2004 is the targeted opening date.
