Tonight's meeting of the North Coast Women's Political Caucus will feature Margaret Magruder, a candidate for the Oregon House District 31 appointment.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Flag Room of the Astoria Public Library, 450 10th St., Astoria. The public is invited.
She is one of three people so far seeking the seat held by state Rep. Betsy Johnson, D-Scappoose, who is expected to be appointed to the Oregon Senate on confirmation of retiring Sen. Joan Dukes to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. The others are Jim Servino of Astoria, a radio station executive, and Brad Witt of Clatskanie, secretary-treasurer of the Oregon AFL-CIO.
Magruder is a third-generation Oregonian and Columbia County resident who co-owns Magruder Farms livestock. Her grandmother served in the Oregon Legislature in the 1930s, her brother in the 1970s and her mother in the 1980s.
She has served on the Columbia County Budget Committee for eight years, the Oregon Board of Agriculture for eight years and has held various school board and ag committee assignments.
