SEASIDE – Seaside Fire and Rescue officials have wrapped up their investigation into a $400,000 fire at 33373 Highway 26 that left a garage in rubble, damaged a home and destroyed four vehicles.

Investigators looked carefully at burn patterns and also conducted interviews with the homeowners and others, but were unable to find evidence of a cause.

“We couldn’t come up a specific cause of the fire so we are classifying it as an undetermined cause,” said Chris Dugan, Seaside Fire and Rescue division chief. “We can’t say it was electrical. We can’t say that lighting hit it. We can’t rule out anything including arson. That’s why we say the cause is undetermined.”

Dugan said the property owner’s insurance company will likely bring in an investigator. “He might be able to find something that we didn’t find,” Dugan said.

The garage and home are owned by Daniel and Robin Christiansen who were able to get out of the house safety during the early morning blaze April 24.
