CANNON BEACH - Cannon Beach Children's Center joins with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., to conduct the "Bring a Bike Day" Trike-A-Thon. The one-day event starts at 10 a.m. Friday at the center, 3781 S. Hemlock, to promote bike safety while raising money for childhood cancer research. Children of all ages are welcome to attend, young bicyclists as well as tricyclists. Parking is limited.

Lack of training is the most frequent contributing cause of bicycle accidents. The Trike-A-Thon teaches riding safety tips using coloring sheets, stories and riding activities. Parents support the program by collecting tax-deductible donations to sponsor their child.

The Memphis hospital, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is recognized internationally for pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund raising organization. For more information, visit (www.stjude.org)
