Major water main repair work will close a section of Astoria's Irving Avenue all day Wednesday, and some customers will be without water that day.

Irving Avenue in Astoria will be closed from 28th Street to 35th Street from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday while the Astoria Public Works Department replaces a 40-foot long section of 12-inch diameter water main and two 12-inch water main gate valves.

Water customers on Irving Avenue between 28th and 38th streets, 35th Street and Harrison Avenue, Harrison Circle, Grand Avenue from 35th to 39th streets, and Franklin Avenue from 37th to 43rd streets may have no water or reduced pressure from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday because of the repair project.

Some of the details announced earlier were incorrect.

Questions may be directed to Astoria Public Works Operations at 325-3524.
