Rescuers are searching Leadbetter Point, Wash., this morning for two Washington clammers.

A male, 57, from Longview, Wash., and a woman, 54, from Castle Rock, Wash., were reported missing at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter that searched the Long Beach Peninsula area for an hour and a half.

"We flew last night but we weren't able to locate them," said Petty Officer Justin Erdman.

Erdman said the Pacific County Sheriff's Office, which is responsible for leading the investigation, is going to start searching from the ground this morning.

The Coast Guard will continue to provide helicopter assistance.

The individuals were last seen around 4 p.m. Monday.
