Everyone loves a bargain, and there will plenty at the Clatsop County auction Saturday. You'll find deals on some wheels, baubles for your loved one and lots and lots of stuff for your home.

Approximately 500 items will be sold, even sinks - as in antique porcelain sinks and toilets from the 1904 county courthouse. The list includes used vehicles - sedans, pickup trucks and even a 1,000-gallon water truck - and small boats, fishing gear, knives, picnic tables, desks, chairs, television monitors, shelves, doors and windows. And a few novelties: a dummy used for CPR training, an antique stamping machine and buckets of spent ammunition brass.

The items are surplus and no longer needed by the county or were seized or turned in to the Sheriff's Office and went unclaimed. The list can be picked up at Public Works Department after Wednesday.

The oral auction will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Public Works compound, 1100 Olney Ave., Astoria. Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on auction day.

All sales will be final. Items will be sold as is and where is. Cash and local checks are accepted.
