Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria received a $30,000 Komen Community Grant to provide activities and services related to breast health and breast-cancer issues for women in Clatsop County from the Oregon and Southwest Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

This program helps provide education, counseling and case management services to women age 40 and older, especially those with low incomes and those who are uninsured or underinsured.

Twenty-two organizations throughout Oregon and southwest Washington were awarded a total of $600,000 in community and rural transportation grants, which will help provide services to more than 31,000 men and women who are medically underserved because of challenges such as language and cultural barriers, financial difficulties and transportation issues.
