U.S. Coast Guard Group Astoria airlifted a 51-year-old man off the North Jetty at Cape Disappointment State Park Saturday after he dislocated his right knee.

Mark Damon, of Riggins, Idaho, was out on the jetty when he slipped and twisted his knee and could not get up.

Park Rangers tried to assist him, but because of Damon's size and type of injury, asked for assistance from the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard hoisted Damon to safety and took him to the Coast Guard station.

He was then taken to Ocean Beach Hospital.
