WESTPORT, Wash. - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 27-year-old woman off the charter vessel Mariner, seven miles west of Westport Saturday.

At 11 a.m. the station received a call that Rebecca Smith, of Helena, Mont., was trembling and couldn't breathe.

Station Gray's Harbor dispatched a motor lifeboat, took her off the boat and transferred her to local EMS.

The Coast Guard also responded to a possible Megler Bridge jumper. The Coast Guard received a 9-1-1 call that a man who had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend had left their car on foot from the top of the bridge.

Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and Station Cape Disappointment responded with a 47-foot motor lifeboat.

After searching for three hours, the Coast Guard received word at 3 a.m. Sunday that the person was found on land, unharmed.
