CANNON BEACH - The dynamic sound of a trumpet will herald the start of the Community Hymn Sing at 7 p.m., Oct. 14, at Community Presbyterian Church. "God of Our Fathers", which calls for trumpet fanfare and interludes, will be the first hymn of the evening. Ron Smiley will play the trumpet. The singing also will be accompanied by both organ and piano.

In order to maximize the hymn-singing experience, most of the hymns to be used will be selected by those who come to participate. The "Classic Hymn

of the Month" will be "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go", written in 1882 by George Matheson. Its story will be presented in a brief paragraph written by the author himself.

Community Hymn Sing, a one-hour program offered without charge to all who would like to participate, occurs on the second Sunday evening each month at

the church, located at the corner of Hemlock and Washington Streets. For further information, call the church office, (503) 436-1222.
