The fourth annual WINGS Conference will offer information on college admissions, distance learning, scholarships, financial aid, support programs, career planning and other topics for women interested in going to school.

"It's such an opportunity for women to make a fresh start if that's what they want to do, and they don't have to do it alone," said Karen Kenyon, a conference co-chairwoman with the Astoria branch of American Association of University Women. "This is the fourth year, and in the past three years what we have found is that it really does change their lives. It gives them great support for making good changes in their lives."

Encouragement She added that the conference offers not only information, but encouragement.

"Very often, when we're struggling with things that aren't going very well, we'll forget that there's help available," Kenyon said. "In this case, there's a great deal of help at the college."

The conference takes place 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at Clatsop Community College, room 322 of Patriot Hall.

The event is free, with lunch and child care provided.
