The Bayshore Animal Hospital in Warrenton will soon have new digs, according to veterinarian Dr. Brad Pope.

Crews began construction on the foundation in April for new clinic facilities, located next door to the current animal hospital on S.E. Marlin Avenue.

Schlecht Construction, Inc. of Longview is the general contractor. Architectural Werks of Kirkland designed the building.

Pope said the new clinic will look more like a veterinary hospital should, custom designed for the traffic flow needed in an animal facility.

Architectural Werks architects have designed at least 200 veterinary hospitals, and Schlecht also has experience building the specialized facilities. The new building will offer doctors and staff more exam rooms and surgical areas, among other improvements.

The current clinic is a 2,400 sq. ft. triple-wide manufactured home. The new building will encompass 4,000 sq. ft.

Pope said the project should be finished in about six months. He may decide to lease out the old building once the animal hospital has made the transition to the new clinic.

Pope opened the clinic at its current location 16 years ago. He currently shares the practice with fellow vet Dr. Sheila Kilponen. The animal hospital employs nine staff members.
