Pizza, pins and performers will be featured at the grand opening of the Democratic Campaign Headquarters for Clatsop County. The public is welcome to the celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday. The office is at 339 12th St. next to the Hotel Elliott. Lawn signs, buttons, bumper stickers, T-shirts, and other campaign materials will be available up through the November election.

Guests include representatives from the Kerry-Edwards campaign and from U.S. Rep. David Wu's re-election campaign. Visitors can meet candidates or their representatives for state offices. The Brownsmead Flats will perform.

"We need volunteers to staff the office daily so that we can make Democrat materials available to the most people," said Jackie Taylor, headquarters' volunteer coordinator and a former state representative.

People interested in volunteering for this and other campaign work can sign up at the opening or contact Taylor at ( or 325-1267.

The office is funded by the Clatsop County Democratic Central Committee, which is supported by area residents. Call 325-3388 or 741-6085 for more details, or to volunteer.
