ASTORIA – One half of a local 20-year-old dentistry clinic, Leinassar and Klemp Dental Excellence, has struck out on his own.

Dr. Dennis Klemp began seeing patients in his own practice June 1. His new offices are at 1006 West Marine Drive, former headquarters of KAST Radio, which relocated to Warrenton several years ago.

“We’re remodeling from the ground up,” Klemp said last fall. “My practice will be downstairs. We’re leaving our options open for the upstairs.

“We’ll offer total patient care with a focus on preventative care,” he added. “We’ll look at cause and effect.”

Specifically, he said his practice will incorporate the latest dental and orthodontic treatments for children’s facial growth and development.

“It’s not always about dentistry,” he added. “It’s amazing where this stuff is going.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Jeffrey Leinassar will continue his practice at the current Leinassar and Klemp office, along the Columbia River at 1414 Marine Drive.

Klemp, originally from Butte, Mont., joined Leinassar’s practice in 1991, becoming a full partner in 1993.

Klemp earned his DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University and said he has taken more than 700 hours of continuing education, including graduating from the advanced cosmetic program at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and PAC-Live, and an advanced esthetic continuum at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Klemp also is on staff at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
